PHARMACEUTICS is a branch of the pharmacy field that carries the impression of
pharmacy profession:
In general, it encompasses the areas that involve designing, formulating and presenting a
therapeutically useful chemical entity in a most appropriate drug delivery system such as tablets,
capsules, syrups, etc. Pharmaceutics endeavors to make administration of medicine compliant and
effective for the patient. The comprehensive study of this subject necessitates the integration of
physical, chemical and biological principles, as applicable to all the components of drug delivery
systems. In the present scenario, the discovery of new drug entities has enabled the development of new
drug delivery systems, advanced production processes and the latest machinery for the manufacture of
superior quality products providing wide scope to the research and development in this field. This
subject along with its related subjects is well distributed in the B.Pharm. curriculum. Pharmaceutics
deals with the study of various dosage forms, cosmetics, etc and related manufacturing processes. Modern
Dispensing Practices deals with contemporary principles and practices in the dispensing of medication.
Physical Pharmacy deals with the application of Physico-chemical principles in designing of dosage form
and drug action. Pharmaceutical Microbiology gives an idea of the various aspects of microorganisms,
their role in the pathogenesis of the disease, the effect on formulation and industrial applications.
Biopharmaceutics involves the study of different factors such as biological, physicochemical and
formulation aspects that influence the therapeutic efficiency of a drug.

Undergraduate Pharmaceutics Department The undergraduate pharmaceutics department has four laboratories
namely
- • Pharmaceutics I, Pharmaceutics II and Pharmaceutics III.
- • Physical Pharmacy.
- • Pharmaceutical Microbiology.
- • Parenteral Section.
All the laboratories measure about 111.52 sq meter having good ventilation and lighting facilities along
with continuous water supply. The laboratories are designed efficiently for proper storage of chemicals
and glassware. These laboratories are well equipped with the latest instruments, which are listed below.
